The Last of Us and The Last of Us Part II are storytelling masterpieces that blend raw emotion with intense, gritty gameplay. Set in a post-apocalyptic world, these games follow deeply complex characters as they navigate danger, loss, and hope in a harsh, unforgiving landscape. Had to give it a good playthrough especially since I'm loving the show adaptation.

The Good Stuff

The narrative is what really stands out. Look, we all know it’s just emotional, powerful, and unforgettable. The character development is top-notch, making you care deeply about Joel, Ellie, and the others. The world design is breathtaking, from abandoned cities overtaken by nature to tense, claustrophobic interiors filled with lurking threats. The combat feels intense and realistic, with a strong focus on stealth and resource management that keeps you constantly engaged. The sound design and music add layers of atmosphere that make every moment feel alive and charged with emotion.

The So-So Stuff

Sometimes the pacing can drag a bit, especially when you’re caught up in extended stealth sequences or repetitive combat scenarios. And while the story is incredibly strong, some of the darker themes and intense moments might not be for everyone. A few gameplay mechanics, like crafting and inventory management, can feel a little tedious at times.

Final Thoughts

Overall, The Last of Us series delivers one of the most emotionally gripping and immersive gaming experiences out there. It’s a perfect mix of storytelling, atmosphere, and challenging gameplay that sticks with you long after you’ve put the controller down. Whether you’re new to the series or revisiting it, these games are absolutely worth your time.

Catch you on the streams,
